Making Smoothies with Melon (cantaloupe)

Cantaloupe is a variety of muskmelon that grows on vines along the ground. Cantaloupe fruits typically have a rough and scaly outer rind that is light tan in color. The fruit's flesh is bright orange in color, thick textured, and is sweet in flavor (when ripe). The melon also contains several flat seeds in it's center. Cantaloupe seeds are edible, full of nutrients, and can be roasted just the same as pumpkin and squash seeds. China currently leads the world in production of cantaloupe, and grows over half of the world's crop.

Fun Fact

1 cup of cantaloupe provides over 70% of your daily value of vitamin C.
